Making the first mark in an artwork, can be daunting. But once that first action is made inhibitions are often unlocked and suddenly creative possibilities seem endless.

I often engage with energies such as gravity and velocity where order and chaos play out on the surface of a work. Arbitrary marks made by propelled paint reveal themselves to me and I acknowledge and respond to them accordingly with intention. In this way I feel that a relationship is forged between the artist and art work; between intentional interventions and the arbitrary marks assisted by external forces.

 

Sights, colours, and sounds of both natural and urban environments are often an inspiration.
