e. hambros art
I am an abstract expressionist artist based in Melbourne’s coastal south-eastern suburbs.
Over the years I have painted and studied prolifically whilst working in supportive roles in education and legal settings.
In recent years I turned my full efforts towards art.
Formal studies: Diploma Vis Arts at Swinburne University; BA with double majors in History of Art at Melbourne University; Double majors in Artists Books at Deakin University; concluding studies in BFA at Curtin University. I have been part of many university exhibitions and have multiple paintings in private collections in Australia and abroad.
Some favourite artists: Aida Tomescu, Alekos Fassianos, Rusiate Lali, Gerhard Richter, Beatriz Milhazes, John Zerange Young,
Yayoi Kusama, Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Jackson Pollock.
My subject matter is often the materiality of paint itself and how it responds when certain forces are applied to it. Unsure of what the final work will look like, I proceed with strict attention to elements and principles of art, compositional issues being vital. Harmony thrives with chaos on my canvas. The artwork informs my next response, resulting in a euphonic synergy between artwork and artist.
thankyou for visiting my website!
